Politicians met to discuss business-driven sustainable urban development
On September 23rd pilot project Business-driven sustainable urban development held a stakeholder meeting for politicians. The project has already arranged stakeholder meetings targeted to both industry and municipalities.
During the meeting key findings from the project so far were presented, focusing on what it takes to get the companies involved in sustainable urban development issues, municipalities´ prerequisites for collaboration and the social dimension of sustainable urban development. The meeting ended with a discussion of what it takes to stimulate cooperation between the between the public and private sectors. How can policy facilitate the business driven perspective and thus the possibility of the creation of new business opportunities, innovation platforms and demo items for export? The discussion focused among other things on the complex processes at work in the city, the need for an arena to discuss this and related matters in order to get an overview and gather different stakeholders. Other topics that were discussed were which companies should be involved and that it is important to create conditions so that companies can participate.
The pilot project Business-driven sustainable urban development will run until October 31st 2011. Thereafter, the results from the project will be communicated.
