The main research question: How can citizen initiatives interplay with invited participation in local development work? This question raises sub-questions:
Conference paper: The Strength of Codesign: Citizens as Community Builders
Abstract: Transdisciplinary research, integrating practice and academia, and including citizens as knowledgeproducers in urban development processes can lead to successful community empowerment in urban design. Insuch approaches, citizens are consideredcommunity builders and therefore are invited by the authorities to buildknowledge by codesigning artifacts in urban space. The paper was presented at The ASPIS Conference in Ghent, Belgium, Nov 15-16, 2012.
